Each year the Gardens in Bloom competition gets more entrants! This year the the competition for residents was to show off their gardens including this year’s GREEN theme encouraging compost, recycling and water butts. Everyone who entered our Garden In-Bloom competition received a rosette and certificate to acknowledge their gardening efforts. Top prizes went to a number of residents who work in partnership to create colourful communal gardens for their neighbours to enjoy.
Sheltered winner
First prize in the sheltered housing category went to Mrs Jean Spires who with help from Gillian Dorsen and Gillian Andrews have transformed the garden at Gardner House.
Communal winner
Mr Gordon Wheaton, with friend Mr Perkins, won first prize in the communal garden category for the garden they care for at Rixman Close, Maidenhead. He maintains the garden and has put in lots of potted plants to brighten up the area, which all residents can enjoy.
Window boxes
The lack of a lawn did not stop Mrs Daphne Jones and Mr Keith Palethorne in Brownfield Gardens from transforming their outdoor area into a pleasant spot to spend a summer’s evening. They won first prize in the window box category with an array of beautiful potted plants and window boxes.
Back Gardens
Mrs Sheila Stoueld from Pavillion Cottages has put in some hard work to turn her garden into an oasis of tranquillity, winning her first prize in the back garden category.
Everyone’s a winner!
