Garden In-Bloom Competition

Monday, 19 July 2010, 9:00 pm to 4:45 pm - Various Gardens - over the week

Community Activities

GREEN THEME
Over the week the judges will be looking for flower and vegetable gardens which are environmentally friendly and have been designed to support wildlife. You will get extra points for using compost bins, water butts, having bird boxes and providing wild areas in gardens which support bird, insect and wildlife.

There is a new vegetable garden category so whether you grow passion flowers or potatoes you can now enter the competition. As so many of our residents share gardens with their neighbours there are now two communal garden categories - a general one and one for Sheltered Housing gardens.

The competition will be judged by the Residents’ Association and there is a £1,000 in gardening vouchers up for grabs.

Closing date 30th June 2010
Judging W/C 19th July

7:30pm – 11pm

SPECIAL INVITATION TO RACE NIGHT, 7.30 pm SATURDAY 10TH JULY

It’s not long now before the first ever Larchfield Festival comes to Desborough Park from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th July. The festival is being organised by River Church with the support of the local council and promises to be a weekend packed with family-friendly fun and games, including a Race Night on the Saturday evening.

We would love to see lots of local people attending this event. So, thanks to a subsidy from MDHA, we would like to offer MDHA residents living on the Larchfield Estate the opportunity to buy tickets for the Race Night at the reduced rate of only £2.50 per person (usually £8 or £5 for groups of 6 or more)!

The ticket price includes a Ploughman’s platter, a drink from the bar plus all that is needed to play at the Race Night. Here’s how the Race Night works:-
• We will be showing films of actual horse races throughout the evening
• You will be given some fun “Larchfield Festival” money at the beginning of the evening
• Place a bet with our Race night hosts on whichever horse you think will win the race
• You will not be betting for real cash
• You can bet on as many horses as you like, as many times as you like
• When all bets have been placed, the race will be shown and the winner displayed
• If your horse is the winner, collect your winnings
• The players with the most winnings over the course of the night will win some fantastic prizes
For Race Night tickets please ring Alejandra Cerrillo on 07789 243009.

For any other information about the Larchfield Festival please leave a message on 07772 889369 and one of the Larchfield Festival team will get back to you.

Hope to see you there!
