Residents Association Members

Len Smith
As a member of Tenant’s Link Executive Committee, I would like to tell you a little about myself and why I for involve. I was born in Medway town of Chatham in Kent. I am an Ex- Army man and Ex- merchant Navy.
So you can see I got around on my travels and met and married a local girl from Woodlands Park. That was 53 years ago. WOW!
I retired at the age of 58 after losing my daughter, Terry. As time went by I noted an advert in the local paper asking tenants to attend a local meeting at the town hall. For something to do I went along. It was quite interesting and after several other meetings I decided to join the committee which was then called The Open Door. That was June 1995 and in 1996 I was elected as Chairman for two years.
In 1998 I was elected to the Association’s Board of Management and in this time I have acquired a lot of understanding both from MDHA and mainly from tenants and leaseholders. I spend a lot of my time talking to people in all areas about their problems and trying to help in any way I can.
I must conclude by saying that MDHA Residents Association is an asset to MDHA and its tenants and it gives me great pleasure working with them.
