We work with local training providers to promote low cost and free training opportunities for residents. These could include computer skills, getting back to work, money management or skills for resident involvement activities.
If the training is through a local provider please contact the provider direct if you are interested in attending.
Housing Solutions
We provide various training courses with RBWM throughout the year so make sure you check out our community activities for up-to-date training. We have spme starting in September 2011 running through to December looking at either basic internet and email skills or Email skills and digital cameras.

Thames Valley Housing Resident Involvement Training
Housing providers are being encouraged to actively involve residents in the management of the service they are providing. TVH has developed a programme of 7 training modules to provide residents with the skills they need to participate effectively.
Each module includes an introduction to Housing and the different types of resident involvement. The legal responsibilities of landlords are also explored.
Modules can be delivered individually or as a suite. We are able to tailor the delivery to meet the needs of your housing organisation.

Employability skills workshop setting personal goals, job searching, making applications, successful interview techniques, and being in employment.

Improve your Literacy
Improve your spelling, reading skills, understand text, improve written work and focus on listening skills. Weekly course to improve your literacy skills with the opportunity to undertake a qualification. Length of the course can be personalised to your own needs.

IT for Job Hunters
Basic and improver IT skills specific to job search, access the internet to search for jobs, set up an email account, use Word to develop a CV and covering letter, use Excel to understand financial implications of working.

When?– Every Friday between 06/05/11-03/06/11 at 1.30pm-3.30pm

Retail works (2 day introduction)
An introduction to working in the retail industry, candidates must attend both days after which they will be expected to attend a short interview to assess their suitability to attend the full course.

Retail works (Full Course)
This course delivers the essential skills necessary to pursue a career in the retail industry. Accredited by the Sector Skills Council, this course leads to a level 1 Award in Retail Knowledge. The course i sfree although there may be a charge for the delegate's workbook.

Food Hygiene
A one-day information based course providing up to date legislation and knowledge of food hygiene considerations and regulations. There is a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health test at the end of the day. Results usually take 6 weeks.

Health & Safety
